WELCOME TO THE BABYLONIAN JEWRY HERITAGE CENTER WEBSITE

We offer you an improved, updated and vareigated website. It's purpose is
to present the surfer with information concerning the development of the
Center including construction, research and publications.

Although the present building that houses the Center is comprised of only
750 square meters, it holds many widely varied exhibits, a library,
computerization section and research institute. But it is too small to include
the large collection of articles of clothing and other artefacts, all the
computers, the records and cassettes, the research material and so on that
are stored in cupboars.

For this reason we are at present enlarging the building by the addition of
a second storey of 850 sq. Meters where there will be 18 new exhibits
including "The Babylonian Leadership over the past 2000 years", including
the heads of the community and the rabbis, "Jewish education in Iraq",
geneological tables and family trees representing one million persons whose
origins are in Babylon and who today live all over the world and at least
two generations of their family history, "An example of the Babylonian
Jewish home", "The Jewish Communities in Iraq", "Popular Folk Medicine" ,
"Iraqi Jews in the Far East" (since the arrival there of the Kadouri,
Sassoon, Hardon and other families) and many other subjects of interest.

For this reason we are in need of all information, documentation, details
and items of clothing and household implements that can be used to enrich
our research and the exhibits. Every item received will be registered and
the donor will be given an appropriate receipt.
