EVENTS AT THE CENTER
A GROVE IN MEMORY OF THE FARHUD VICTIMS
Hundreds of Iraqi Jews gathered in November this year at the entrance of the Be'eri Kibbutz in the South of Israel to unveil the monument commemorating the Jews who were murdered in the pogrom of June 1941 in Iraq. For this purpose, a grove was planted in the vicinity of the kibbutz.
In this deeply emotional ceremony, speeches were given by former Minister, Mr. Shlomo Hillel, author Eli Amir, Head of the HeHalutz Underground Movement Mr. Zevulun Hareli, Director of the National Jewish Fund Mr. Yehiel Leket, Dr. Nissim Kazzaz and lastly, the person in charge of forestation for the National Jewish Fund Mr. David Engel. The heads of the Babylonian Community in Israel, among them former Ministers Mr. Mordechai Ben-Porat, Mr. Shlomo Hillel and Mrs. Shoshana Arbeli-Almozlino, unveiled the monument.
