Exhibit of Childhood and Bar Mitzvah

On March 28, 1995 an opening ceremony was held at Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center of an exhibit on the childhood and bar mitzvah in the Jewish life Cycle in Babylonia.
The exhibit included children's outfits as they were worn in day to day life, games, amulets and jewelry as well as talitot, Tfillin bags and the Tfillin used for the Bar Mitzvah ceremony.
The gift enabling. this exhibit was donated by the Yidgar family in memory of Nahum, son of Yitzhak Yidgar.
His niece, Michael Menashe spoke in his memory: He told of how Nahum Yidgar immigrated to Israel in 1951: together with his parents and eight brothers and sisters. He was a modest man with a good soul who attended his sick mother for many long years. Yidgar himself never obtained an education. Nevertheless he strongly valued education. He also was very aware of the problems that the Iraqi immigrants had in advancing in the Israeli society.
Michael Menashe notes:
"I have no doubt that it is no coincidence that we are meeting here since the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center is an important center for maintaining our roots as roots are the basis for the development of our society".
