A Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Babylonian Jewish Heritage Center, together with the people of Israel, extend their thanks on the eve of Pesach (Passover 5763) to Almighty God and to the coalition forces on the uprooting of an evil regime and the removal of a modern day Haman from Baghdad.

The Iraqi Jewish émigrés who won their redemption in operation Ezra & Nechamia during Passover 1951, remember today with ignominy the ill-treatment of the remnants of the oldest diaspora of the Jewish people in Babylon, by Saddam Hussein and his henchmen. Their cruelty reached its peak with the hanging of innocent Jews in the streets of Baghdad. Their blood of the innocents still cries out from the land of Iraq.

With the freeing of Iraq from Saddam’s tyranny, The Babylonian Jewish heritage Center expects to be allowed to salvage the Judaica belonging to this ancient community and help to rehabilitate and preserve the Jewish holy shrines, especially the tombs of the biblical prophets and ancient synagogues.

At the defeat of the regime of evil, we extend our prayers to Israel, the Middle East and the whole world for peace and security.

May the Biblical prophesy of the Prophet Isaiah that “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” be fulfilled in our days.

A happy and Kosher Passover.
