This book describes, for the first time, the manuscript of Babylonian Jews in their chronological order, from the time a book bore an explicit indication that it was written in Baghdad (in the year 1665) up to the interim period between the introduction of lithographic printing and that of lead printing (in 1885).
Taking into consideration the rarity of the Babylonian manuscripts and their dispersion in libraries, archives and private collections, an attempt was made to compile in this book all that was left of the literature of this Jewry, including original writings as well as reproductions and copies, all of which constitute the basis for building up Babylonian Jews' cognizance of their spiritual heritage.
